How my experience as a Division I athlete shapes the way I approach marketing, strategy and professional growth.

As a former Division I athlete, I’ve learned that high performance isn’t just about physical ability, it’s about mindset. Competing at a high level requires discipline, preparation, resilience, and the ability to perform under pressure. What I didn’t realize until later is how naturally those same qualities transfer into the world of marketing and business.

Sports and marketing share a core truth: success depends on understanding people. In sports, you have to understand your opponents, your team, and yourself. In marketing, you need to understand your audience, what they value, how they behave, and what motivates them to take action. My athletic background trained me to observe, adjust, and execute quickly, which translates directly into strategy work. Learn more about my projects in my Portfolio to see examples of this in action.

High-performance mindsets also matter in fast-paced marketing environments. Whether it’s managing deadlines, adjusting a campaign based on analytics, or collaborating with a team, I approach every project with focus and competitiveness. I thrive in settings where I can both strategize and create, using data to inform decisions while still building campaigns that are authentic and impactful. Resources like Forbes’ guide on high-performance teams show how these principles apply across industries.

in the end, what ties sports and marketing together is the ability to stay resilient, adapt quickly, and keep pushing for growth. That mindset is the foundation of how I work, lead, and solve problems, and it’s what continues to shape my career path today.
